Born in the American streets of the ’70s with DJ Kool Herc, hip-hop has its roots in Block Parties where a huge diversity of people was gathering around the love of music. Hip-hop has given us some of the most iconic lyrics like the instantly recognizable Rapper’s Delight, a hit from the ’80s by Sugar Hill Gang. After that, hip-hop music made its way into people's hearts during the Golden Age of RAP when artists were denouncing racism, violence, and all kinds of crimes with conscious lyrics. Later, the movement conquered a wider audience with incredible flows of legendary artists like Snoop Dog, TUPAC, and Biggie in an era known as the “New School”. The messages may have been different from one era to another, but the power of the lyrics remained the same.

In 50 years of existence, hip-hop has evolved to be at the center of today’s music culture and inspire our modern streetwear.

As each period brings its promises, it also holds its own challenges. With the huge amount of content existing on the Internet, it’s harder than ever for artists to stand out. However, a truthful and unique vision of the world will always attract attention.

With the launch of the new adidas Chile campaign “Find Your Truth,” we’re celebrating the power of messages and its ability to bring people together. As great fans of hip-hop, Jumoke, Claudio, and Sunil, our Londoners Stripers are excited to show you this exclusive clothing collection.

On the shooting set, our Stripers had the chance to meet Shiva, an Italian rapper who is best known for spreading important messages through his lyrics. With songs like La mia storia and Dolce vita, Shiva stands out by expressing his authentic self. For Shiva, it is important to not forget where he comes from, he sees success as a blessing and a little revenge. A lot of people in Italy didn’t believe in the genre of music 4 years ago, but now they see how big it has become.

The most valuable message he wants to give is that you can do whatever you want if you believe in yourself. Shiva mentions he had nothing when he started, but if you believe in yourself, you can do whatever you want for your people. He mentions not feeling he’s made it yet, but this is a good start! Finishing our conversation, he mentions to us that the people around you are the most important people, they are the ones who bring you up.
